PETRONAS SPRINTA Raceline - Team Profile

Representing one half of the equation formed following the evolution of the PETRONAS SPRINTA Racing Team; the PETRONAS SPRINTA Yamaha Raceline team draws from a huge pool of talent and expertise from the management side of things to the riders in the team’s line-up.

Taking the lead for the team is former rider Barry Leong, who takes on the responsibility of managing the team in all respects from the technical and mechanical side to the development of his pool of riders. Using his own years of racing experience as the yardstick for the team, he is also the team’s pillar of strength and source of inspiration. Within the racing fraternity, Barry is known for having the knack at eyeing talent just by “listening” to the way the bike behaves.

An apt description for a man who knows the in’s and out of the machine, the man riding it and how to redress the balance. The testimony to his ability was his discovery of Chris Vermeulen who now plies his trade on the world stage at the MotoGP.

Challenging in all different categories of the championship as well as fielding a line-up of riders that mixes youth and experience, the focus for the PETRONAS SPRINTA Yamaha Raceline team in the 2009 season remains clear - more podiums, more wins and ultimately, more trophies.
