PETRONAS Sprinta Racing
When PETRONAS announced the partnership with Hong Leong Yamaha from 2006 before the start of the new season, the oil and gas corporation also revealed a new and improved PETRONAS Sprinta Racing team line up that boasts both flair, youth and experience. While still carrying on the legacy of Tong Veng Kit, the birth of the two new teams will continue to bank on young blood to spearhead PETRONAS' motorcycle racing assault on both the local and regional fronts.
The partnership now means that the PETRONAS Sprinta Racing is represented by two manufacturer-backed teams - the PETRONAS Sprinta Raceline and PETRONAS Sprinta Ah Hong - to challenge in the 2006 PETRONAS Sprinta AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship.
The association and involvement in Cub Prix racing in general has helped to provide the national oil corporation with a powerful platform to position its brands effectively. The association has done more than fulfil a business objective, it has also allowed Sprinta to evolve and mature to the point where SPRINTA is now synonymous with cub racing.
As the most accessible of all motorsports events in the country, the PETRONAS Sprinta AAM Malaysian Cub Prix championship has also evolved and matured to become the premier "national" motorsports event, especially with the inclusion of two new rounds in the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak.
Through the sport's growing popularity, the championship also plays another significant role as a powerful platform towards the discovery of new racing talents with the potential to go much further, both at home and abroad.
