Season 2009
PETRONAS SPRINTA YAMAHA Malaysia Racing Team - Profile
Similar to the re-imaging exercise for the teams in the domestic championship, the announcement that PETRONAS would partner motorcycle manufacturer Hong Leong Yamaha in early 2006 also meant time was also of the essence for the PETRONAS SPRINTA racing team’s preparation in the regional series, the Asia Road Racing Championship.
The sporting objectives then in 2006 and now remain clear – to build on the progress of the team from the previous seasons to mount a serious challenge for the PETRONAS FIM ARRC. Up against some of the region’s best riders in the SuperSports 600cc category, the team’s highly experienced rider line-up has already produced considerable success on track.

Led and managed by seasoned racing veteran who is no stranger to the PETRONAS racing ranks, Kuan Meng Heng brings with him a wealth of experience in regional and international competition that is arguably unmatched. In addition to being a former rider himself, his presence adds depth to the squad as he imparts his valuable insights into the inner workings of the racing world in every respect, be it man or machine.
Off-track, the team’s objective echoes the championship’s objectives in the development of young racing talents. The team takes pride in its efforts to become the ideal training ground and springboard for the crème de la crème of young Malaysian talents onto the world stage. Armed with an impressive list of accomplishments, the team’s challenge is spearheaded by seasoned campaigner 30-year old Ahmad Fuad Baharudin, joined by his two younger teammates, Md Zamri Baba (26) and Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (25).
