PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Malaysia Racing Team

Though only just taking full shape in 2006 through PETRONAS' collaboration with motorcycle engine manufacturer Yamaha, the PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Malaysia Racing Team is already making its presence felt in the 2006 Asia Road Racing Championship.

In continuing PETRONAS' long-standing involvement in motorcycle racing through its PETRONAS Sprinta Racing team, the oil and gas corporation had announced in April 2006 the extension of the team with the partnership with Hong Leong Yamaha to help mount a serious challenge onto the 2006 Asia Road Racing Championship or ARRC.

Spearheading the challenge for the PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Malaysia Racing Team is cub prix veteran and 2005 ARRC runner-up Ahmad Fuad Baharudin, eager to claim the 2006 title away from Japanese rider Toshiyuki Hamaguchi. Riding along side Fuad is his elder sibling Ahmad Zamani Baharudin, Abdul Rahim Sidek and Syahnas Shahidan. Led and managed by seasoned racing veteran, Kwan Meng Heng, the PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Malaysia Racing team is definitely poised to create some waves at the 2006 Asia Road Racing Championship.

Dubbed as the regional equivalent of World GP also fondly known as the Asian GP, ARRC has always attracted established teams and riders from around the region. All three riders, a combination of speed and experience, will be challenging for the team’s glory in the premier Supersports 600cc category of the Asia Road Racing Championship.
