2009 Super Taikyu Endurance Series
Round 7 – Sendai Hi-Land Raceway (Format: 400Kms)
10 – 12 October 2009

Sendai Hi-Land raceway challenge awaits PETRONAS Syntium Team

Preview. Kuala Lumpur / Tokyo (Japan), 9 October 2009 – After taking their fourth win of the 2009 Super Taikyu Endurance Series at the Okayama International Circuit last month, the trio of Masataka Yanagida (JPN), Nobuteru Taniguchi (JPN) and Fariqe Hairuman (MAS) in the team’s No. 1 BMW Z4M Coupe are looking to extend their strong form at Round 7 of the series this weekend. Taking place at the Sendai Hi-Land Raceway, the season’s penultimate round is being billed as a 400km format race.

Located in the Miyagi prefecture in the Northeastern portion of Japan’s main Honshu Island, the Sendai Hi-land raceway measuring at just over 4km in length, will see the PETRONAS Syntium Team field the two BMW Z4M Coupes with the same line-up. With Yanagida, Hairuman and Taniguchi in the No. 1 car, driver responsibilities in the sister No. 28 BMW Z4M coupe will fall in the hands of Japanese duo Tatsuya Kataoka and Hiroki Yoshida as well as Malaysian Johan Adzmi.

David Wong, Team Principal, PETRONAS Syntium Team:
“There are a lot of factors to consider when preparing for the race here at the Sendai Hi-land Raceway. In addition to the technical, mechanical and driver preparations, there is one factor that always comes into play significantly here at Sendai. This is the unpredictability of the mountain weather. Located high up in the high lands, it is quite difficult to predict what the conditions might be on raceday. For sure, this does add to the enjoyment for the spectators who come from afar to these races.

"It is also not a favourite amongst the drivers as it is quite a twisty track with some tight corners, which demands maximum concentration and consistency from the drivers. For us, the goal and objective remains fixed and that is to fight for a win. After the strong result at Okayama and the preparations we have put in for this race, we are optimistic for a strong performance here this weekend.”

Sendai Hi-Land Circuit
Located in the Northeastern portion of Japan’s main island Honshu, the Sendai Hi-Land raceway measures at 4.063 kilometers in length. Nestled in the scenic flowing mountain range of the Miyagi Prefecture where the circuit is located, the unpredictable mountain weather has come to dominate the circuit’s main feature.

With 17 corners, the track is quite demanding on the drivers, requiring maximum concentration as they navigate through a combination of the raceway’s long sweeping and short twisty corners. More on Sendai at www.hi-land.co.jp/
