Jazeman Jaafar returns to British F3 this year, staying with Carlin, the team which he has raced with for the previous two years in this prestigious championship. The PETRONAS-supported young Malaysian driver had a strong season of racing in 2011, finishing sixth in the championship with four podiums and 18 top five finishes.

 

Jazeman Jaafar is a familiar name in his native homeland Malaysia, especially since chalking up a memorable Formula BMW Asia season in 2007 that saw the youngster hold the champions trophy aloft over his older rivals. Now plying his racing trade in the British Formula 3 Championship, we profile one of the drivers in PETRONAS' talent development initiative.

 

Dubbed the “King of Pocket Bikes”, Hafizh was discovered by team manager Barry Leong purely by chance. The Selangor-born boy had developed an interest in motorcycles from an early age and upon the young lad’s insistence, his father introduced him to pocket bikes at the age of 9

 

2006 marked another milestone for PETRONAS with the formation of the PETRONAS Formula Xperience (PFX) Racing School, an extension of PETRONAS’ existing talent development initiatives.

 

Developed with the objective of bridging the gap between karting and a higher level single-seater formula racing, the PETRONAS Formula Xperience was launched in May 2006 and commenced its first training session in July 2006.
