Team PETRONAS Syntium Proton
Driver Profile

M Fariqe Hairuman
Proton Impian 2006, Car No. 15
Fariqe’s entry into the high profile world of international touring car racing is something of a fairy tale. Scouts alerted David Wong to the keen youngster and he was quickly given the opportunity to prove himself on track. His instant turn of speed and uncanny car control earned him the team’s judgement and had learned heads nodding in agreement.
A professional driver with Team PETRONAS Syntium Proton, the talented lad from Johor quickly earned his reputation through his out-of-the-box skill and youthful exuberance, earning him drives for the team in the Malaysian Supercars championship. He was later included in the team line up to participate in the New Zealand Endurance races.
The exposure has seen him earn wins and podium finishes in local Asian Touring Car, Malaysian Super Cars Championships as well as the New Zealand Endurance races.
His valuable exposure and racing mileage in the fast and furious pace of the British Touring Car Championship are standing him in good stead in his return to the 2005 Asian Touring Car Championship, ATCC. His consistent performances earned him strong podium finishes in the 2005 ATCC season.
