2006 will see the return of Michael Briggs to the team fold. Undoubtedly the most successful Touring Car driver in the history of the South African Touring Car racing, the native South African has notched 120 race starts in his career.
His record includes the most race wins with 28, the most top-three finishes with 61, the most pole positions with 16 poles and most importantly, his two wins out of the six South African Touring Car Championships.
Michael joined Team PETRONAS in 1996 and had a hand in the development of the late Hairol Azmi Buntat. He was also the mentor to the late Hairol, who went on to win the 1999 Malaysian Supercar Championship.
Michael has also hand a hand in the development and mentorship of both Fariqe Hairuman and Mashlino Buang, shaping both drivers to be top Touring Car drivers.
