MME08: 2008 Guest Driver Profile - MME 12-Hours - Johannes Stuck

PETRONAS Syntium Team
2008 PETRONAS Primax 3 Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race

Driver Profile: Johannes Stuck

A true racing pedigree, Johannes and his younger brother Ferdinand represent the third generation of Stucks involved in racing. The offspring of accomplished German driver Hans-Joachim Stuck and grandson to the legend Hans Stuck, Johannes is also in his own right a race car driver, though it was not necessarily this 22-year old’s first choice of career.

Growing up, Johannes took more to the grassy football fields and golf greens as well as the white-slopes of the mountains rather than the tarmacs of a racetrack. He eventually caught the “fuel bug” in 2003 when out of the blue Johannes approached his father with an expressed desire to drive a Formula BMW car. That year, he made his debut in the ADAC VW Lupo Cup and driven by his own enthusiasm, Johannes never looked back.

Having succeeded in making his initial steps, Johannes has since charted his way to continue the family tradition, competing in a number of championships including the VLN and the Mini Challenge as well as taking part in endurance races like the infamous 24-hours of Nürburgring and the 24-hours of Dubai, naturally with class wins.

In 2007, Johannes brought his blistering pace to Asia to race in Japan and Malaysia with the PETRONAS Syntium Team. Making up part of the quartet taking part in the gruelling 24-hours of Tokachi, a round in the Super Taikyu Endurance Series, Johannes was impressive in playing his part to bring the car home fourth in class. A month later, Johannes returned to Asia to complete the team's trio in the 12-hours PETRONAS Primax 3 Merdeka Millennium Endurance race at the wheels of the BMW Z4M Coupe. 2008 will see the return of Johannes to Sepang as the 22-year joins the PETRONAS Syntium Team to take part in the MME for the second year in a row.
