Circuit Profile
Located 300kilometres north of Tokyo in the town of Murata in the district of Shibata in the Miyagi Prefecture, the Sportsland Sugo (スポーツランドSUGO) is a motorsports facility that has been around since 1975.
One of the largest motorsport facility in Japan, the entire area covers a total of 2.1million square metres, housing a multitude of facilities that includes a road-racing track, a motorcross circuit, a trials course as well as a go-kart track.
The road-racing track is the main feature of the Sportsland Sugo track hosting the Super GT Series, Formula Nippon and All-Japan Formula 3 Championships, as well as the Super Taikyu Endurance Series and the All Japan Motorcycle championship.
Though considered a short track in terms of the track distance, the average speed is considerably high, particularly in the last sector and the last corner of the track called the 110R corner, which is also a blind corner. Demanding precision from the drivers, the narrow circuit has seen its fair share of incidents across the different racing genres.
