Team SAUBER PETRONAS continued to top the timesheets again when new driver and former world champion Jacques Villeneuve confirms the C23’s pace in yesterday’s day 2 of their Jerez test.
Despite the wet and windy weather around the southern Spanish track, JV managed to get down to business in the afternoon as soon as the track dries up.
The Canadian managed a total of 74 laps to clock a best time of 1:22.071s under trying the track conditions, a far cry from Massa’s 1:17.498s done yesterday.
Race Engineer Giampaolo Dall´Ara sighed: “Today the weather was just like yesterday and the forecast for tomorrow is also not very promising, which makes testing a bit difficult.
“Therefore Jacques mostly used the day to further acclimatise to the car and the team. However, as soon as the track started to dry up in the afternoon we were able to do our best laps.
He added, “We couldn´t get a lot of references concerning aerodynamic and mechanical set-up tests, but we adapted our programme to the conditions and focused on further Michelin tyre work.
“Overall, despite of the bad weather and track conditions we still did quite a lot and the performance was pretty good.”
