Heavy rain at the Eurospeedway circuit in Germany today halted Foggy PETRONAS Racing’s progress on the second day of its two day test.

With Garry McCoy ruled out of testing this week following injuries sustained in a controversial accident at last Sunday’s World Suerbike race at Brno, team-mate Steve Martin took to the track for a second day as the sole FP1 rider.

In cool, overcast and windy morning conditions, Steve was able to match his best lap time from yesterday on just his second lap, but the weather soon turned to showers and then heavy rain from lunchtime.

Efforts were switched to wet weather set-up during the morning in order to make the most of the track time. But with two riders crashing on the slippery track and, limited benefit to be gained in testing some of the planned elements in the wet, the team decided to bring the test to an early end from mid-afternoon.

Steve said: “It’s been good to come to this track prior to the race here in a few weeks and also to test some more of the FP1's developments. We got through a lot yesterday including further development of the new engine management system, chassis settings, mapping and suspension testing, and this morning I instantly went as fast as yesterday with worse track conditions. But when the rain came in heavily we decided to call it a day. I’d already tested some wet weather set-ups in the morning and a few other riders had come to grief out on the wet track, so we thought it best to end there on a good note rather than risk damaging myself or the bike.”
