Weather: Partly cloudy, dry and hot.
Sepang, 24 November 2007 - With the proceedings for the second school race event in the 2007 season of the PETRONAS Formula Xperience racing school underway on Friday, the qualifying session for the weekend's races took place in the afternoon to determine the starting positions for both races on Saturday and Sunday.
Taking the two fastest laps recorded by each driver to determine the grid positions, 18 year old Dominic Ang dominated the Friday afternoon qualifying session, topping the time sheets in the session clocking in with his two best times of 2:15.768m and 2:16.178m to start both races from pole position.
Rounding off the top three after producing strong lap times in the session were Arvin Roslan and Ammirol Mahmood, with their best times of 2:17.350m and 2:17.408m, respectively ensuring a P2 and P3 start for the first race on Saturday afternoon. Both drivers will trade start positions for the second race on Sunday with Ammirol in P2 after clocking in with his second best effort of 2:17.499m ahead of Arvin's second best time of 2:17.659m, which was good for a P3 start.

Dominic Ang, Car 1 (age: 18 years) – Pole Sitter Race 1 and Race 2
“I am really happy to start from pole position for our second school race of the season. It was a really good outing, especially towards the latter part of the season, when I started to get better lap times. I know I could have gone faster but for a small mistake in the last lap. We will see tomorrow for the race, I hope I can do much better and produce a good result.”
Arvin Roslan, Car 6 (Age: 18 years) – P2 (Race 1) & P3 (Race 2)
“I am really excited about the race tomorrow. I knew the qualifying would be really important, especially getting a good start position for the race. It will definitely be very different from our first school race as this time we race on the full circuit. I just hope I can do well, make the most of a good start and use everything the instructors have taught us to produce a good result.”
Ammirol Mahmood, Car 7 (Age: 18 years) – P3 (Race 1) & P2 (Race 2)
“The qualifying session was really good, especially compared to the free practice earlier. I could see that my times were improving and I know I could have gone faster. I know it will be a tough race for us this weekend but it feels great to be here racing in front of the MSS and A1 fraternity. I will definitely give my best tomorrow to give a good challenge to the two in front of me.”
