LEXUS TEAM PETRONAS TOM’S drivers escapes with art
Juichi Wakisaka and Andre Lotterer take part in art programme with children

Fresh off a strong start at the first three rounds of the 2010 Super GT Series, the LEXUS TEAM PETRONAS TOM’S drivers Juichi Wakisaka and Andre Lotterer took time out today to take part in a special programme organised by PETRONAS.

The drivers joined a group of children aged 8 - 12 in a special GALERI PETRONAS’ Art Escape School Holiday workshop at PETRONAS’ art gallery. The “Stenciled Printmaking” workshop saw both drivers work with the children in a special segment to create print artwork on canvas using stencils of motorsport motifs.

The drivers were later taken for a tour of some of the collection that is currently on display at the GALERI PETRONAS, before ending their part in the special programme.

Commenting on the activities, Andre Lotterer notes, “It was fun being with the kids this morning, especially doing an activity that I quite enjoy myself - art! Actually, art is something I enjoy doing as it can be a way for me to express myself. It was also quite nice that the programme incorporated and introduced motorsports, which was also quiet fun.”

Teammate Juichi Wakisaka notes, “In our GT races back in Japan, we always receive nice artwork with good luck messages from children who come to the races. The team will put these up in the pits, which is really nice to see. So coming here and be able to work with the kids in this art workshop was something fun! I enjoyed it!”

GALERI PETRONAS’ Art Escape School holiday workshops are typically held during long school holiday breaks throughout the year. The LEXUS TEAM PETRONAS TOM’S will be in action in the GT500 category at the Sepang International Circuit starting on Saturday with practice and qualifying, with the 54-lap race on Sunday, 20 June 2010.
