PETRONAS to premiere its 2011 Formula 1™ Thematic TV Commercial and campaign in the grand prix week

Kuala Lumpur, 4 April 2011 – PETRONAS will be premiering its brand new Formula One Thematic TV commercial in the week leading up to the 2011 Formula 1™ PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix.

The commercial is scheduled to premiere over various free-to-air and satellite networks as well as online platforms on Tuesday April 5th. PETRONAS’ thematic print commercials in various printed publications are also timed to start within the same week.

The much anticipated 60-second TV commercial follows the earlier release of four thematic teasers in March featuring the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS Formula One Team race car.

Designed to communicate the benefits of PETRONAS’ partnership with the Formula One team, the theme of the commercial is more light-hearted and tongue-and-cheek than in any of PETRONAS’ previous thematic commercials.

Filmed in various locations in and around Malaysia and the region, the creative team behind the production of the commercial was spearheaded by PETRONAS together with its appointed advertising agency Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur. The commercial was a fully Malaysian effort in collaboration with local production; post-production and audio houses.

The thematic commercial comes on the back of PETRONAS other on-ground and online promotions in the lead up to the grand prix. The 2011 Formula 1™ PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix will take place on the weekend of 8 to 10 April 2011 at Sepang Circuit.
