Driver Profile: Fariqe Hairuman
Faced with a brand new challenge for the 2007 season, the PST's decision to head north to the land of the rising sun to race in the Super Taikyu Endurance series with a new machine is also a new challenge for young Malaysian driver, Fariqe Hairuman as he lines up along side a new teammate. We profile the lad from the Southern Malaysian state, Johor.

Fariqe’s entry into the high profile world of international Touring Car racing is something of a fairy tale. Scouts alerted David Wong to the keen youngster who was given the chance to prove himself on the track. His instant turn of speed and uncanny car control rewarded the team’s judgement and quickly had learned heads nodding in agreement.

Fariqe’s out-on-the-box skill and youthful exuberance has certainly been and continues to be tempered by the rigours of international competition. In the time that he has raced competitively, Fariqe has already achieved many wins and podium performances in the Asian Touring Cars series, Malaysian Super Cars and New Zealand Endurance Races.

He finished 2nd overall in the 2005 and 2006 Asian Touring Car Championship. He was also part of the Class C (1600 cc) winning team in the 2006 PETRONAS Primax 3 Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race, Malaysia’s premier endurance race event.

While he continues the pursuit to be the Asian Touring Car champion, 2007 also marks another turning point for the man from the southern Malaysian state of Johor. The team’s decision to put Fariqe behind the wheels of a BMW Z4M Coupe to participate in the popular Japanese Super Taikyu Endurance Series is set to bring the 24-year old Malaysian to new heights.

The year will also see Fariqe return to Malaysia's largest motoring fraternity gathering - the PETRONAS PRIMAX 3 Merdeka Millennium Endurance race in August. Though he will not return to defend the Class C win achieved by the team in the 2006 challenge, the 24-year old will return to embark on a brand new challenge following the team's switch to the blue-ribbon class "O" category with the BMW Z4M Coupe.
